A Compendium for the Ecclesiastics of the Order
During 2025, the Cardinal Grand Master devoted particular attention to the role of ecclesiastics within the Order. As a result, a Compendium that brings together all those previously published documents has been approved. The documents that make up the Compendium deal with the presence and activities of ecclesiastics within the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
The motivation behind the production of the Compendium, is that there are many ecclesiastics who seek clarification regarding their role within a lay chivalric Order, or are unfamiliar with the place of the Order within the Church. Through this text, it is therefore hoped to respond to the needs of ecclesiastical or religious Knights, as well as of religious Dames and of those interested in these matters. The text is also useful to Lieutenants and other Leaders in their contacts with ecclesiastics who become members of the Order, as well as with the Bishops of the dioceses in which the Order is present.
